    Corporate Social Responsibility

Our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) company policy outlines our efforts to give back to the world as it gives to us. We believe that a commitment to the principles of corporate social responsibility complements our core values and overall business plan.

At Kenward Trust, our primary mission is to provide support so that those affected by addiction, homelessness and crime can transform their lives. We do this by providing a high quality of care to suit their personal needs, with a dedicated staff team with a diverse skill set. Our culture is embodied in our staff team who have a positive and caring attitude and are encouraged to behave ethically and engage with the local community.

We are proud to work closely with care commissioners and providers alongside GP’s and other charitable organisations within the communities that we serve.

What is Corporate Social Responsibility?

Our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) company policy outlines our efforts to give back to the world as it gives to us. We believe that a commitment to the principles of corporate social responsibility complements our core values and overall business plan.

This policy applies to all employees of Kenward Trust and covers all activities at our site and our subsidiaries.

The Environment

At Kenward Trust, we are committed to reducing our environmental footprint in all areas of our business through waste reduction strategies alongside renewable energy solutions. Our aim is to reduce any damaging effects on the environment that result from our business’ processes.

We recognise that our main environmental impact will be through our own activities such as staff, volunteer and resident movement, marketing materials and the day to day running of our sites.

Please see our separate environmental policy which sets out how we seek to reduce our impact on the environment whilst continuing our services.

We recognise that the support that we provide our residents to transform their lives and create a new future away from their addictions not only helps the resident but also their families, friends and wider communities.

We encourage our employees to get involved with local communities and utilise the services we provide to create mutual benefit. One core example of this would be the sessions we offer to schools and community groups across Kent and Medway which provide young people with education about the risks associated with drugs and alcohol. These sessions allow us to engage with the local community whilst providing a vital service. We also work with local councils to highlight areas of problem drug use and work with those using substances in the area to signpost them to relevant services to help them where appropriate.

With the opening of Kenward Place in 2019, we have been working to reach out to local schools and community groups so they can utilise our function room and outdoor space. We appreciate that having a safe open area can be necessary for these groups, especially with our woodland being available so this aligns with our business and fundraising plans as well as our corporate social responsibility.

Our work focusses on the wellbeing of our residents, so general well-being is a large part of our ethos and values. We are reaching out to more well-being companies to see if we can work together to create mutual benefit.

At Kenward Trust, we could not provide our life-changing services without our dedicated staff team and so we strive to ensure that we provide support to them so they can develop throughout their time working with us.

We ensure that that all staff members have access to training so we can increase the diversity of our workforce whilst they enjoy their work and progression.

We will promote well-being and equality to our staff team and will treat all employees in accordance with equality and employment legislation.

We take steps to ensure the health and safety of our employees and community and have policies that seek to maintain and provide a safe working environment.

We support diversity and inclusion and so will actively look for ways we can promote and increase the diversity of our workforce.

All employees are given the opportunity to present their views to the management.
