Sage & Time Café
Sage & Time Café
Our new café Sage & Time at Kenward House, Yalding is now open Monday to Friday from 10am to 4pm and Saturdays 11am to 3pm offering a tasty range of refreshments.
The café is part of the redesign of the Georgian mansion which offers a unique new-visitor experience. Starting in the grand Welcome Hall along with reception there is a variety of gifts on sale all made by residents in the rehabilitation programmes. This then leads into the Sage & Time Café and Conference rooms.
One of our strategic aims for the Yalding-based Kenward Trust is the development of social enterprise. The café is an exciting component of the vision of holistic integrated recovery journey, from detox to gainful employment. Additionally, it will help to raise valuable income for us so the life saving work can continue.
Kent based design, refurbishment and fit out contractor, RAP Interiors helped with the renovation work of the café and Marketing Manager, Emily Lamb said:
"It was a pleasure being chosen to work with Kenward Trust and an honour to design the vision for such a beautiful historic building, to create a social area for Kenward Trust who are passionate about changing lives.
It was our mission to design and fit out a high-quality café area for the charity, yet keep the buildings existing features which would engage the residents socially.
We hope the residents and local business enjoy the café area for many years to come and that more charities in Kent would aspire to this."
Chief Executive, David Philpott said:
"With the continuing challenge of funding we are now executing a strategy of developing our commercial arm of the charity. Resources are sparse for everyone so we have embraced the challenge of developing a mixed and varied income generation strategy by putting our buildings to a wide range of uses, including this new coffee shop, shop and conference centre, all staffed by our recovery graduates. are sparse for everyone so we have embraced the challenge of developing a mixed and varied income generation strategy by putting our buildings to a wide range of uses, including the new coffee shop (Sage & Time), shop and conference centre, all staffed by our recovery graduates."

"The food (jacket potatoes) took a while to arrive but that was because it was all freshly cooked and the wait was definitely worth it. There were good sized portions and the food was very tasty. The homemade cake was irresistible! Everything was very reasonably priced and the staff were very friendly and efficient. We will definitely be back."
Another recent visitor commented:
"A group of about 20 ladies came to Sage and Time yesterday. We had a room to ourselves and had lovely coffees and cakes. I bought bites and pieces from reception and also a lovely outdoor pot plant. I would recommend this to come for lunch or afternoon tea and you have a walk around the beautiful grounds. Seating inside or outside if it is sunny."
After an Afternoon Tea at Sage & Time a visitor commented:
"I just wanted to write and thank you for giving Grace such a wonderful party last week. She really enjoyed herself and loved the venue and the food. It was a complete surprise for her. She told me afterwards 'I didn't realise that so many people liked me!!'
I feel that you went above and beyond and I know Grace was very grateful for the flowers too. It was also nice not to feel rushed out afterwards, especially as some people had travelled from quite a distance. We were also very grateful for you dividing up the cake into containers to take out. I'm sorry as I meant for and your colleague to have some cake and forgot to offer!
Thank you once again Tina. I think you're great!"
