Climbing new heights for Kenward Trust
21st July 2017 /
John Shanley, Project Manager of Kenward Trust's “Think Differently” programme for young people will be supporting the charity and raising funds when he takes on a Challenge event in Mount Toubkal, Morocco in May this year.
Taking part in one of the Kenward Trust's Challenge Events is a great way to raise money whilst enjoying a once in a lifetime experience. John will be taking part in the Mount Toubkal challenge event. This amazing trip is a 5-day summer ascent of North Africa’s highest mountains. Climbing the 4,167m of Mount Toubkal is an exhilarating challenge that requires little trekking experience but rewards you with truly outstanding panoramic views of the High Atlas.
"I am doing this trek to support the work of Kenward Trust and all it is doing to support people from all walks of life who have slipped into addiction.
Over my years working for Kenward, I have seen so many men and women's lives be changed, who have set out to fight their addiction of drugs and alcohol. It is very rewarding to see a person who is lost to addiction come out the other side full of life and to meet the real person they are and not the person that first walked through the door.
Kenward is also launching new programmes with veterans and other ventures to raise money to support the service and so I’m keen to do all I can to help. I am a person who believes in what he is doing and to educate and support young people in a world of drugs and alcohol culture.
It will also be a great personal challenge and one I am looking forward to. I would really like to raise enough money to fund a place for someone who cannot get funding to come into Kenward.”
