Kent Police support Kenward Trust’s new Invicta Project
26th April 2017 /
We are so grateful that the Kent Police have awarded £500 to our new bespoke ex-service personnel project which will be launched later this year and will be known as “The Invicta Project”.
The generous grant is from Kent Police’s Lost Property fundwhich is generated from the sale, at auction, of items seized in police operations. The money will pay for paint and other decorating equipment to get the project ready to start later this year.
For nearly 50 years, Kenward House and Gardens has been a place of recovery and renewal for hundreds - if not thousands - of men who, working with our trained counsellors, therapists and key workers, have overcome addictions to alcohol and drugs. The Invicta Project will provide a tailored service to meet the needs of those who having served in Army, Navy, Airforce or Merchant Navy now find themselves battling with addictions - often compounded by other complications such as PTSD or relationship breakdown. This significant project will support our ex-service personnel on their recovery journey
Chris Thomas, Kenward TrustProject Manager said:
“It is very encouraging to receive such a generous donation from one uniformed service to another. Both have served this nation, often in dangerous situations and proof of mutual respect like this is appreciated.”
Deputy Divisional Commander for West Kent, Supt Phil Hibben said:
“We are delighted to have been able to contribute to such a worthy and important project. The Kenward Trust continues to provide a hugely important service to some of the most vulnerable people within our communities and the launch of the Invicta Project will hopefully make it easier for those from a military background to get the appropriate support and assistance they clearly deserve.”
Set in 16 acres of magnificent Kent countryside, overlooking the River Medway, Kenward House is a Grade II listed building, providing high quality accommodation.
