Local insurance brokers volunteer to ensure Kenward House has a new driveway
25th September 2017 /
As part of the development at Kenward House to enhance the facilities a new entrance is being created to welcome visitors. Local insurance broker Arthur J. Gallagher, based in Kings Hill, sent a working party to help clear an old overgrown driveway allowing easier access from the road to the front of our Manor House where our Conference Rooms and new Charitique Café are located.
Adam Mackenzie, Account Director at Arthur J. Gallagher, said:
“As a community broker with a national network of offices, our teams around the UK are always keen to find local projects where we can put our volunteering and corporate social responsibility efforts to good use.
“So we were delighted to take a six-strong team to Kenward House to tackle its severely overgrown driveway, as part of its wider development programme to enhance the facilities.
“It was a lovely hot summer’s day, so we rolled up our sleeves and enthusiastically got to work. Four hours, and a lot of sweat and laughs later, we’d cleared a large area of driveway. The impressive result made the minor scratches and stings from all the brambles and nettles well worth it!
“The day was an excellent team-working experience for us and it was great to interact with another local organisation – one that does such fantastic work in helping to treat and rehabilitate hundreds of people every year.
“Being able to positively impact our community, support the Trust and create a real difference, made for a very rewarding experience – one we recommend to others and definitely intend to repeat.”
Lynn Hyder, Head of Events, Fundraising & Volunteer Engagement at Kenward Trust said:
“The work that these volunteers have carried out has been invaluable in our redevelopment of our commercial facilities which provide valuable Social Enterprise opportunities for our residents to develop existing or learn new skills to help them on recovery journey as well as a valuable source of income for the charity.”
