New shop "Charitique" opening soon!
28th May 2017 /
Kenward Trust’s new vision is to embrace the idea of a holistic integrated recovery journey from addiction to gainful employment. At the end of the programme, men and women will be employed in the trust’s own small companies offering business opportunities and work to people who will have honed their skills in the trust’s Social Enterprise projects.
We support residents to re-orientate and transform their lives by systematically addressing considerations such as general health and well-being, housing options, debt, family relationships, employment options, skills development and training.
We have successfully used social enterprise to complement our therapeutic programmes and this has proved to be highly beneficial for residents as they learn new skills alongside volunteers from the wider community, raising their self esteem and confidence – this is called Social Bridging. We currently have a range of activities that residents engage in that includes woodcrafts, pottery, horticulture and animal husbandry. Our new shop in Tunbridge Wells, opening soon, will offer additional opportunities for our residents to acquire new skills in retailing and possibly management as they move closer to re-establishing their independence.
The shop, called "Charitique", will retail our products and will also help to raise our brand profile and hopefully attract new volunteers too. Kenward Trust has always been very active in communities across West Kent providing advice and support to those affected by substance misuse, homelessness or social isolation. It will offer an opportunity for us to continue this tradition of engagement in within a vibrant and eclectic district of Tunbridge Wells.
We will soon be recruiting new Volunteers and also calling for donations of goods to sell………..interested? Please get in touch on 01622 814187
