Kenward Trust calls for reform in the education system around drugs awareness

Penny Williams, CEO, and Kim Webster, our new Youth Education Executive were interviewed by BBC South East News this week, regarding the essential alcohol and drugs education overhaul that is desperately needed in schools.

As many of you may be aware, Kim has personal experience of how devastating drugs can be on a young person’s life, as well as their family; her son, Will, died four years ago, after taking a non-prescribed dose of tramadol. Since then, Kim has made it her mission to educate as many young people as possible, and since starting in her new role at Kenward Trust, she is determined to see a change in the education young people receive about the stark reality of substance misuse.

One of the key aspects of this, is asking that the government use some of the £780m from their drug strategy to provide funding for schools, to further educate young people on the risks involved when taking drugs.

You can watch the full video of Penny and Kim, as well as Will’s friend Charlie, being interviewed below.
